Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB) and Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association (EIB) are professional non-profit associations which deal with all export activities in minerals sector. The Natural Stone Database of Turkey (www.turkishstones.org) is managed by both of these organizations and provides sectoral and fair information together with a company directory and a stone index. Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association was founded in 1976 and has 3250 members as of 2011 and Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association was founded in 1991 and has 1400 members.

Among the principle areas of business of IMIB and EIB are natural stones, borates and concentrates, chromium ore, copper ore, magnesite, ferrochromium, zinc ore and feldspar products.
The main objectives of the unions are to increase exports of mineral and natural stone industry, to bring solutions to the problems of export-oriented activities in the country and to promote Turkish natural stones and minerals in abroad, effectively.
